Rockstar Games fans are, once again, debating their perfect casting choice for Red Dead Redemption 2’s protagonist Arthur Morgan, and it seems like they’ve at least figured out who they don’t want to play him.
Even though Rockstar Games has never announced, nor shows any intention to make, a film or a TV show based on either Red Dead Redemption game, the fanbase seems oddly obsessed with attempting to muster up the perfect cast for a live-action adaptation.
There’s one member of the squad nobody seems to be able to agree on though, and that’s Arthur Morgan himself.

There’s been a lot of names thrown around for him online. I’ve seen a lot of people say they want Henry Cavill, which is, no offence to the man, an awful choice.
Brandon Sklenar seems like a popular choice too, but I think that’s solely based on the fact that he’s in that Western TV show 1923.
There’s another name I’ve seen pop up quite a few times too, and (thanks to a post from CoveredGeekly) his name is back in the spotlight again.
I’m of course referring to Jensen Ackles, perhaps best known for his role as Dean Winchester in the TV series Supernatural.

Well, news of this has reached the r/reddeadredemption subreddit (again) and… everyone hates it.
“I loved him in Supernatural, The Boys, Tracker, heck, even Ten Inch Hero,” commented user whatintheeverloving.
“But as Arthur? Nopedy nope.”
“No. Don’t care who,” replied user GoodDawgAug.

“Please don’t make this a movie or tv show. It was already the best interactive movie there could possibly be.”
Personally I think there’s been worse choices, but I don’t see Jensen Ackles pulling it off.
This might sound odd but, I think he’s too pretty to play Arthur Morgan. I know obviously Hollywood films have incredible hair and make-up crews, but Arthur Morgan is supposed to be a sort of… everyman.
What I’m trying to say is, I don’t think someone who is classically handsome in the Hollywood sort of way would suit the role. Arthur is implied to be relatively good-looking, but at the same time, he’s a rugged outlaw in his mid-30s in the late 1800s. That’s basically like being 50 today.

Time to go back to the drawing board on this one folks.
