Red Dead Redemption 2 is a very special video game indeed. Rockstar Games' 2018 Western managed to marry a vast, detailed open world experience with a deeply intimate, beautifully written story.
The fall of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang is epic stuff, expertly told across 40-odd hours. It's widely regarded as one of the greatest stories ever told in a video game, and it's not hard to see why. Every inch the sprawling Red Dead Redemption 2 was put together with the utmost love and care. The writing, direction, and performances are on another level.

But not everyone wants to - or can - play a video game. Does that mean they shouldn't be able to enjoy such a fantastic story? Of course not! That's why one dedicated fan is turning Red Dead Redemption 2 into a book for his dad, and it's why this YouTube channel has created The Red Dead Redemption 2 Show.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Show does exactly what the name suggests. For the last year or so, the channel has been uploading 45 minutes "episodes" that take us through Rockstar's game in a new light.
This is much more than a glorified Let's Play series. Using the game's built-in cinematic camera combined with existing cutscenes, The Red Dead Redemption 2 Show is entirely focused on the story. Impressive editing and camera work also means it's genuinely hard to tell where a lot of the cutscenes start and gameplay ends. The only time you'll see Arthur in combat is when the story demands it, and even then each scene has been carefully choregraphed to ensure it rarely feels like you're watching someone play a video game.
The channel is still hard at work on new episodes, so be sure to go and check out what they've done so far. You can also learn more about the impressive project - and how to support them - via Patreon.
