Red Dead Redemption 2 has a secret area in game’s prologue you probably missed

This one's for the film buffs

I have a love/hate relationship with Red Dead Redemption 2’s prologue.

It certainly doesn’t reflect the pace of the wider game, but it’s not bad either.

I simply agree with those who advise new players to stick with it because you don’t really get a feel for what Red Dead Redemption 2 has to offer until you’re let loose in its enormous open world.

I will say though, it’s not a section I look forward to replaying on subsequent playthroughs; I just want to get on with things.

That may change though on my next playthrough as one player has unearthed something within the prologue that I’ve certainly never seen before.

While you’re here, take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails.

“300 [plus] hours and it’s my first time seeing this,” Reddit user Rude-Ad-7224 wrote.

“He kinda looked like John from these angles,” they added.

He really does, but I can safely say that it isn’t John.

This frozen individual is in fact believed to be a reference to the movie Jeremiah Johnson, a western released back in 1972.

When the titular character ventures into the Rocky Mountains, he finds the frozen body of a fellow known as Hatchet Jack clutching a .50-caliber Hawken rifle.

If this is indeed what Red Dead Redemption 2 is referencing then that’s pretty damn cool that Rockstar would include such niche odes to various western films.

“Working through the game again. Kind of amazing all the stuff hidden in the snows and all over the map,” replied Requiesce_en_pace.

“Wait until you find the ancient frozen settler,” added LuckyHare87, which can be found at the highest point of Mount Hagen.

Just think of how many new secrets we’ll have to unearth when Grand Theft Auto VI drops later this year.

I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest GTA fan on the planet but I still appreciate the series and simply won’t be able to resist diving headfirst into a gorgeous new Rockstar Games open world.
