Red Dead Redemption 2 players are being given some lovely little presents from Rockstar Games to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
Rockstar Games isn’t a developer to ignore the festive season, as we’ve seen every year with GTA V: Online getting covered in a thick blanket of snow, probably the last time we’ll see it this year too before GTA VI comes out in 2025.
See the trailer for GTA VI below.
While Red Dead Online doesn’t quite get the same treatment, its players do get the occasional festive treat, and this year, it’s free cosmetics.

By playing the online game from 24 December to 30 December, players will receive the green Torranca Coat as a freebie.
It’s a small reward for sure but a gift is a gift, and if all you have to do to earn it is play the game, you can’t really grumble at that.
Perhaps it would have made more sense to include a Santa outfit or something, maybe some sort of festive antler accessory for the horses. Anything but a green coat that you probably won’t wear.
Red Dead Online does feel empty though. Yeah, the game came out over five years ago but it got nowhere near enough support from Rockstar when it was popular, and with the right amount of effort, it could have been as good as GTA V Online.

Hopefully Red Dead Redemption 3 has a more comprehensive online mode with more to do and see, and takes full advantage of holidays like Christmas to bring exciting, new events to the game.
In the meantime, fans will just have to enjoy one final Christmas in Los Santos with GTA V: Online's festive update, before heading into the New Year with GTA VI on the mind, and all the exciting opportunities it’ll bring with it.
