Your next cosy obsession

If you’re looking for a new cosy sim that’ll consume all of your free waking hours, you may want to consider Moonstone Island.

This one’s perfect for Stardew Valley and Pokémon fans, blending pixel-art farming with dungeon crawling and creature battles.

In our review of the game, we awarded the game a score of eight, writing, “Moonstone Island is destined to become your favourite snuggly jumper, the one you always return to each winter because you know it’ll keep you warm, and it’ll make you smile despite the raging weather lashing the pane.”

As with any cosy sim of this nature, there is a fair amount of grind to Moonstone Island but if you delight in slowly developing a virtual homestead, this one’s certainly worth a go.

In fact, it may be a great time to jump in as Moonstone Island has just announced a free update.

Take a look at Moonstone Island in action below.

I should stress that the base game isn’t free. That’ll set you back £13.49 on Nintendo Switch or £10.88 on Steam, both prices correct at the time of writing.

Those are limited-time offers though so those prices will fluctuate in the coming days.

Once you’ve secured the game, the update I’m here to talk about today comes free of charge.

Studio Supersoft has unveiled that Moonstone Island players are set to receive a new house type and a new Spirit in a new update that’s live right now.

The house features an adorable yellow and pink mushroom design, while the Spirit is a funky little tomato looking guy that I shall endeavour to add to my line-up as soon as possible.

A number of new features are also on the way including the ability to reset a Spirit’s card deck and swap NPC spirits, while looping music has also been introduced alongside the option of a new basement staircase.

There’s nothing particularly in the way of patch notes, but you can view some of the new additions in the tweeted image below.

The update appears to have gone down well with players; “Super excited for these improvements,” wrote one fan.

Hopefully that’s convinced you to give this one a whirl as it’s a gem that deserves more eyes on it.
