Personally, I play Stardew Valley because I enjoy its low stakes fun, but if you’ve ever found yourself wishing that the game had a higher sense of risk and danger, well, I may have just the thing for you.
LeaforiaStudio’s upcoming farming sim Leaforia features everything you love about Stardew Valley with the added survival elements of a game like Valheim.
Here, you’ll run your own farm - crafting items, growing crops, acquiring key materials, and looking after livestock.

You can train a loyal canine companion, traverse the game’s world on horseback, befriend the locals, fall in love … your typical cosy fare.
But you’ll also need to engage in a few battles too.
You can take a look at Leaforia in action below.
In this title, you won’t want to venture too far without your sword.

Players will engage in real-time battles, defending their farm and livestock from those who seek to take it.
You’ll be able to dodge and parry, unlocking skills including the whirlwind sword attack, or weapons such as the primitive black powder firearms.
Of course, you can take things at your own pace but there’s also a series of story quests too.
Via the game’s main story, you’ll be tasked with defending the sacred Tree of Life which finds itself under attack by corrupted lumberjacks.

You don’t have to go all of this alone.
Leaforia features a four-player co-op mode if you want to gather some friends.
“Leaforia, a mysterious town where fate has taken an unexpected turn for you. Caught red-handed for illegally copying and selling books, you now find yourself paying off a hefty fine by managing the rundown farm of old Walter,” reads the synopsis.
“As you till the soil and tend to your crops, you uncover a deeper conflict—the townsfolk, devoted protectors of nature, are in a desperate struggle against a band of cursed lumberjacks determined to fell the legendary Tree of Life.”

The game is due to launch on Steam later this year; a release date isn’t yet available but you can wishlist the title.
