Browsing Steam’s latest demo additions can be very fruitful.
Already, there are so many incredible titles I’m looking forward to this year, but it’s nice to unearth some upcoming indies alongside the major AAA releases.
Well, Sehoni Island: Monsters and Adventures is now one of those indie titles being added to my hype list.

Developed by dasNaddyGames, this fantasy creature collection title has just debuted its demo ahead of a launch at a later unspecified date.
Think of Sehoni Island as blending gameplay elements of Pokémon with the cosy pixel art style of a game like Stardew Valley.
“A new island has been found and there have been reports of magic and monsters,” the synopsis teases.
“Your company has sent you there to investigate. Upon arriving, you decide to stay in an abandoned farm and find there is much more to this island than you first thought.”

Pokémon fans have Legends Z-A to look forward to this year.
As you may have guessed, you’ll have to scour the island looking for these magical monsters.
Your survival will depend on you completing a fair bit of farming, fishing, foraging, and trading too.

Once you’ve acquired some monsters, you’ll be able to breed more and craft ‘mutations’ which sounds rather sinister but will essentially power-up the monsters.
They may gain proficiency, for example, in helping you carry out a certain task.
Sehoni Island’s demo is designed to introduce you to the game’s mechanics and the basics of monster taming.
It’s teased that later on in the game, you’ll be able to acquire a whole army of monsters but for now, you’ll begin with a select few.

I’ve yet to dive into the demo so I can’t tell you how long it runs for but when it’s totally free to try, does it matter?
It’s live on Steam now so do give it a whirl if this one appeals to you.
