Xbox system update quietly adds a ton of new features

It's available now

I’ll be honest, I don’t clap my hands and shout yippee when a new system update arrives, but perhaps I should.

Many of us pay very little attention to these updates, simply letting them install when the need arises.

You’ll be getting the most out of your console if you do have a little peruse of what they add though, as they often come packed with handy new features and quality-of-life improvements.

That’s certainly the case of the Xbox February Update which should now have rolled out on Series X/S consoles.

The update is available to all, and introduces Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

Essentially, this means you’ll be able to use web browsers are supported TVs to generate links to invite other Game Pass Ultimate members to your gaming sessions.

To do so, you’ll want to: “[Open] the game invite menu from the Guide or in-game, then [look] for the ‘Anyone’ tab. Copy the link and send it to your friends to join your gaming session.”

You can find in-depth instructions over on the Xbox blog.

Avowed recently joined Xbox, and it’s a total banger.

That’s not all as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream more of their own games.

Over 50 titles have been made playable via cloud gaming, and hopefully, you have more than a few of these in your game library.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered are two recently added examples, with Cult of the Lamb, Neva, Hotline Miami, and Atomic Heart just a few of the games scheduled to join the line up soon.

That’s all for the new features, but Microsoft has reminded viewers to make use of last month’s features too.

The January update saw the introduction of a network quality indicator for cloud gaming as well as the rollout of a Xbox Wireless Controller firmware patch.

The February Update is available now.
