There’s one topic within the games industry right now that continues to be inescapable.
Yes, I’m talking about pricing.
It all began several months ago when analysts surfaced claiming that it wouldn’t be shocking to see Rockstar Games charge $100 for Grand Theft Auto VI considering the hype surrounding the game.

Many wrote this off as nonsense.
But then Nintendo announced that it would be charging $80 for physical copies of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Mario Kart World.
Suddenly, that GTA VI pricing rumour seemed a little bit more likely.
You can take a look at Mario Kart World in action below.
And, of course, tariffs recently brought in by US president Donald Trump are also due to have a major impact on the global economy, including the cost of video game consoles, games, and accessories in the US.

But it’s the price of GTA VI that fans really seem to be stuck on.
I could easily see Rockstar charging $100 if you think about the potential lifespan of this game; players are going to get well over 100 hours of playtime, I imagine.
But do I think they actually will? I’m less certain of that.
Fair to say, many Xbox users have made it clear that they won’t be parting with that much money.

“I won’t buy it till it is on sale,” wrote Reddit user Ghoppe2.
“I will give my left testicle before I spend 80, 90 or 100 on a game. I'll just wait for a sale or just never buy it. I didn't even finish GTA V,” added Necessary_Basil4251.
With GTA VI due to launch this coming fall / autumn, we’ll likely hear pre-order and pricing information during the summer months so for now, we’ll have to remain patient.
