Microsoft has just announced that another Developer Direct is inbound, and they’ve even revealed a few of the upcoming Xbox titles that the latest showcase will feature.
“It’s time to get a look at what’s next – Developer_Direct is back,” Xbox Wire’s Editor-in-Chief Joe Skrebels stated in a recent blog post.
“On Thursday, January 23 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK, fans will get an inside look at a selection of highly anticipated games coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass players this year.”

That is less than a fortnight away, so thankfully we won’t have to wait too long to find out what Microsoft is cooking.
Plus, we already know a few of the games that will be featured; Compulsion Games’ (Contrast and We Happy Few) South of Midnight, Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and id Studios’ DOOM: The Dark Ages.
There are almost definitely going to be a few reveals and extra tidbits throughout the Developer Direct as well, so don’t get too disappointed if you don’t see a game you’re interested in on that list.
Now, I’m quietly excited for South of Midnight and DOOM: The Dark Ages. I think they both have the potential to be bangers.

However, I’m particularly looking forward to getting a better look at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
There are a lot of reasons to get excited about this one, and they’re all contained within the trailer that was shown off at the Summer Game Fest Xbox Showcase.
It sort of looks like Microsoft’s take on Persona, which is 100% something I am down to try.
My only real qualm about it is the developer, Sandfall Interactive, as this is the first title they’ve ever produced.

However, there are a bunch of incredible games that came from first-time studios and Sandfall Interactive has a lot of very talented people who have proven their skills at different studios in the past.
I’m semi-confident Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could be something special, so I will see you back here after January 23rd so I can rub it in all of your faces that I was correct.
