Are you a fan of single-player adventure games? Then you’re going to want to act quickly and nab this gem.
To celebrate Fanatical’s birthday, the site is giving Spirit of the North away for free for a limited time.
Developed by Infuse Studio and published by Merge Games, Spirit of the North is a delightful 3D single-player release that sees players assume the role of a fox.

“Play as an ordinary red fox whose story becomes entwined with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a magical spirit fox,” the synopsis reads.
“As you journey over the mountains and under red-stained skies, you’ll discover more about your companion and land left in ruin.”
If you’re a fan of Nordic folklore, you’ll find plenty to sink your teeth into here.
ICYMI: LEGO Horizon Adventures launches on 14 November.
There is no dialogue or narration as players are instead encouraged to immerse themselves in their surroundings in order to solve puzzles and figure out the truth behind a lost ancient civilisation.

Awarding it a score of seven upon release, The Sixth Axis wrote, “Spirit of the North is a lovingly crafted indie adventure that's let down by some wonky platforming and simple puzzling, while the mysterious explorative adventuring evokes the memory of Journey, just without quite achieving the same emotional impact.”
As I said, the game is totally free to claim for PC users.
You simply need to head on over to Fanatical’s storefront where you can download the game until 15 November to be played on Steam.
Considering that it usually costs £15.49, that’s well worth doing - even if you don’t plan on getting around to play the game for some time.

In fact, it’s a good idea to make time as a sequel is on the way.
Spirit of the North 2 remains without a release date, but it’s believed that the game may land next year in 2025.
