Steam gamers surprised with huge free open-world RPG to check out

It's time to get hunting

Despite this highly-anticipated action RPG not set to be fully released until next year, Capcom is giving players the chance to experience it a lot sooner than we first thought.

That’s right, it’s Monster Hunter: Wilds, the latest entry in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series and a successor to Monster Hunter: World.

Check out an official trailer for Monster Hunter: Wilds below!

Set to full release on 28 February 2025, yesterday saw the sequel receive a new trailer which not only provided a fresh look at the game, but also revealed that an open beta would soon be taking place.

Next week, the open beta for Monster Hunter: Wilds will be available for all users on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam.

Not only that but it will also be available for console users who do not have an active subscription to either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass.

Although the open beta will be available on all platforms, PS Plus subscribers will gain access a bit sooner.

This is because Early Access will go live for them on Monday, 28 October at 8pm PT and will end on Wednesday, 30 October at 7:59pm. Very specific.

For PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam users, this will be Thursday 31 October at 8pm to Sunday, 3 November at 6:59pm.

It is also useful to know that crossplay will be enabled for the open beta but, as is the point of Early Access, there may be some bugs and issues which are to be expected.

Players will also gain access to Monster Hunter: Wilds’ character creator and player’s designs will carry over to the full game when it releases in February.

However, this is the only feature that can be carried over, any progress will unfortunately not be.

This massive open-world RPG is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2025 so don’t miss out if you want a sneak peek even sooner.
