January is often a month where plenty of us find ourselves trying to save a few pennies.
That shouldn’t mean that you have to temporarily stop gaming though.
Even if you have no new titles to work through - or anything in need of playing in your backlog - there are plenty of free titles to take advantage of.

In fact, eight new free titles have arrived on Steam for you to enjoy, all of which I will now guide you through.
Let’s begin with Latent Experience as technically, this one is a tech demo, but its impressive physics make it worth your while.
You’ll essentially be able to journey through a variety of biomes, experiencing Latent’s new Generative Physics Animation technology.
The demo is already garnering praise from players who note that it’s a great look at “what the future could hold”.

Tomorrow’s Land is the game for you if open-world action-adventures are your thing, although the rudimentary nature of this particular title echoes the nostalgic games of yesteryear.
Developed by Pham Tien Phat, you’ll play as a pirate, engaging in PvP battles and dealing with “chemistry-driven mechanics”.
Cozy Conure’s Slime Trials is a precision platformer, so patience is required with this one.
As with other titles of this genre, you’ll be tasked with dashing and jumping your way to completion, avoiding perilous obstacles.

Do you have a flair for design? NoHead Games’ Cashrooms may be the title for you. This one is an interior design simulator where you’ll, you guessed it, design various rooms.
Infinity Nikki recently launched on PC and PS5, a free game that’s perfect for fans of Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero.
If you have the capabilities of taking your design skills a step further, you may enjoy Makis Adventure: Level Editor, a level editor that’ll allow you to build your own 2D dungeons.

Created by Zoroarts, the level editor was used to create the titular action platformer Makis Adventure, so it’s all rather self-explanatory.
Lovers of sandbox games may enjoy Nasa Studio Games’ ENFYNYTY although this one is only available in Portuguese.
If that’s not a barrier for you, you’ll be able to race, pillage, and plunder through a GTA-esque map.
Team DOCAAY bring us the aptly titled DOCAAY, a collectible card game - although I’m imagining it’s going to be hard to tear you all away from Pokémon TCG Pocket.
Advert
“DOCAAY is a strategic collectible card game where every card tells its own story. Draw, collect, and expand your most valuable cards to climb the leaderboard and unlock exclusive rewards. Immerse yourself in a library full of mystical tales for each card and grow your inventory with hourly drops,” the synopsis reads.
Finally, we have Ramming Games’ Cosmic Decode, a space game that’ll task you with solving puzzles that’ll help reveal how you’ve come to be stranded in these dire circumstances.
All of the above titles are free and available to enjoy now.
