Looking for something new to play in the post-apocalyptic genre?
Colonies of the Remnant may be for you. Tapping into the same vein as Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us and Bend Studios’ Days Gone, this is a zombie-centric third person shooter.
Developed and published by Cat Soul Studios, Colonies of the Remnant challenges players with establishing their own sanctuary amid the zombie infested streets of a major city and its suburbs.

You’ll need to ward off enemies - zombie and human - as well as form alliances, choosing between either the FPS or TPS game modes.
“The CATX company achieved a medical revolution. A drug called Catxone, technically a virus, was a magnificent product that cured all types of cancer and strengthened immunity. Humankind was celebrating great victories,” the game’s synopsis begins.
“Here Is How the 6th Extinction Began. After the great catastrophe, some of the survivors united and founded their own colonies. In this post-apocalyptic new world, humans were more dangerous than the dead. Formulate your own strategy and prove your leadership to them,” it continues.
ICYMI: The Last of Us’ season two trailer dropped last week. Take a look below.
As a part of Steam Next Fest, a demo for Colonies of the Remnant has launched, granting users access to up to 20 minutes of the game - and the demo has already skyrocketed up Steam’s trending demos chart.

The demo should introduce you to the game’s key mechanics as you set about working out how the virus began.
Devs explain that the demo covers only around 1% of the full release which remains in development.
In the single player demo, players will be able to experience two scenario missions, confront zombies, transition to level two, and get to grips with the basic gunplay.
Should you enjoy the demo, the game is targeting a 15 November release.

It’s well worth keeping an eye out for what else Steam Next Fest has to offer.
Colonies of the Remnant has arrived early, with the event taking place from 14 to 21 October, so we should see plenty more demos arrive in the coming weeks.
