Well, I know what I’ll be doing after work.
Developer Spellgarden Games and publisher Team17 have launched a new demo for upcoming story-based farming sim Ritual of Raven over on Steam.
If you’re someone who enjoys cosy games, I can guarantee that this will be up your alley; I’ve been fawning over the trailer for longer than I probably should on company time.

Perhaps best described as Stardew Valley with the added magic of Hogwarts Legacy, Ritual of Raven is a farming sim with a difference.
You won’t exactly be doing the farming yourself, instead using magic to help you perfect your sprawling abode.
“In a world where different traditions of magic live side by side, ambitious plans were made to open portals between worlds, but the ritual went terribly wrong. Those involved each lost something most precious to them and the portals became unstable, randomly spitting out new arrivals into the world,” the synopsis reads.
“After falling through one of these mysterious portals yourself, you encounter the local witch Sage, who decides you’re the best person to help her in her quest. Taken under her wing as an apprentice, you’ll be able to help search for her missing Familiar, Flufferstoop.”

It continues, “With your cheeky Familiar Raven by your side, you’ll gather the knowledge and ingredients to perform powerful rituals. Fill your Book of Shadows and find the Portal Keepers to bring stability to the portals that have been causing trouble for the village.”
You can take a look at Ritual of Raven in action below.
Players will be able to collect 22 ‘Arcana Constructs’ cards that’ll help you in your farming ambitions, allowing you to grow a wide array of regular and magical ingredients.

You’ll also be able to befriend your neighbours, make use of the different phases of the moon, as well as decorate your farm and village.
Rituals of Raven isn’t due to launch in full until later this year but in the meantime, you can sample its new free demo.
As I said, Rituals of Raven is only set to launch on Steam at the moment, but it would be nice to see it land on consoles further down the line.
If you ask me, cosy games and the Nintendo Switch are a match made in heaven.

Here’s to hoping.
