Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service is the gift that keeps on giving, so long as you continue to pay the subscription fee, of course.
PlayStation Plus is available in three tiers. PS Plus Essential is basically the same tier prior to the 2022 revision which includes a selection of monthly games, member discounts, bonus free DLC and more. PS Plus Extra offers everything included in the Essential tier but with a much wider selection of PS5 and PS4 games to choose from.
Check out the Silent Hill: Ascension trailer below!
As for PS Plus Premium, this includes everything included in the previous two tiers as well as trials, streaming, access to PlayStation Core and more. Speaking of which, PlayStation Core is the topic of discussion for today’s article.

In case you didn't know, Sony Bravia Core, a movie and TV streaming platform similar to Prime Video was rebranded as Sony Pictures Core on 5 October 2023. What’s more, if you subscribe to PS Plus Premium, you will get access to PlayStation Core which offers a curated selection of around a hundred movies.
Sure, the selection isn't that great, but when topped with the recent ability to stream PlayStation 5 games, it at least justifies Sony’s recent PS Plus hike, even if just a little. Though it does include gems such as Django: Unchained, Black Hawk Down and Zombieland to name a few.
However, from now until 30 November 2023, all PS Plus subscribers (regardless of the tier) will be gifted a 15% discount on all purchases and rentals on Sony Pictures Core via the PlayStation app. This means that the cost to purchase the new Gran Turismo movie is reduced from £13.99 to £11.89. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will also cost £11.89 or £4.67 to rent instead of £5.49.
Furthermore, PS Plus Premium subscribers will get exclusive early access to Silent Hill: Ascension, an interactive video game with the events being determined by the live audience. PS Plus subscribers will get 24-hour early access before Silent Hill: Ascension becomes available on other streaming platforms.
