Could it be…? No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, Sony has finally added the new PlayStation to PlayStation Direct for you to buy right now.
It feels like it’s been a long time coming, yet it was only revealed back in July that the PS5 Slim wouldn’t quite be as streamlined as its name suggests, with a first look at the console in August confirming that rumour. Besides, while it isn’t as slim as some were hoping for, it’s markedly more slender than the standard PS5.
Imagine how good Marvel's spider-Man 2 will look on the PS5 Slim
Now that it’s finally available for preorder, Sony can continue its market annihilation of the Xbox Series S and X. According to the latest reports, the PS5 outsells the Xbox Series seven to one; it’s a landslide victory, one fans will undoubtedly use to argue, yet again, which console is better. And with the PS5 Slim now open to preorders, Sony's success looks set to continue.

While you write your condolence cards to Microsoft, you should also take a closer look at the specs of this new console. Promising “lighting fast loading” and “3D audio”, this home console is going to be a big step up from the PS5 despite its smaller stature. With such tech advancements, the price is an eye-watering £479.99. It’s not that it’s a ridiculous price, but simply it feels like a lot for a console that, when all is said and done, is just the PS5 slightly remodelled.
For that price, though, you get Astro’s Playroom pre-installed. It won’t be a game to everyone’s tastes, but at least you’ll have something to test out your new console without having to pay for PS Plus. Let’s face it, a lot of users right now are actively cancelling their membership rather than renewing it, so having games already available without the need to spend more money is welcomed.
