Sometimes, sorry just isn’t enough. Even huge companies like PlayStation are aware of this, which is why its latest apology has a little something extra to offer.
To try to ease tensions between users and its service, PlayStation is giving away free access to PlayStation Plus.
This is because of an “operational issue” many gamers experienced when a network outage prevented access to online games, such as GTA, Fortnite, and Marvel Rivals.

As seen via DownDector, the problem persisted for approximately 24 hours.
PlayStation has since assured its users that “network services have fully recovered”, and has offered an olive branch of five days worth of PS Plus for free.
But this apology isn’t enough to satisfy the many users looking for answers about the issue and what it involved.
Not long until Monster Hunter Wilds now
“What was the case of the issue?” asked @geekcommentator on X. “Given what happened in 2011 we need to know if we need to call our banks for new credit cards and need identity protection services!!”

Another frustrated post, this time from @JohnJohn722, reads, “Sucks to hear that it was ‘operational issue’. I can only imagine the stress if I were to encounter an ‘operational issue’ on the streets or in the supermarket.”
Considering the amount users pay for the service, their displeasure is understandable.
Some players say that they’re fine with such issues occurring, however, they’d appreciate better communication about it from PlayStation.
User @worldchangeryee said, “It’s ok but next time can we communicate? I just need communication that’s all if we’re gonna make this work we have to work on communication.”

It isn’t just the outage itself that’s distressed gamers, so too has the five additional days of PS Plus.
One individual posted “Five days” with three skull emojis to voice their unhappiness at the freebie.

Yet, as another fan pointed out, the service was only “down for 18 hours”. Consequently, they see PlayStation’s offer as more than fair compensation.
“They don't owe people anything, so be happy for this,” argued @IMonkyt.
It matters little whether you’re happy or unhappy about the apology given, the fact remains that all PS Plus members have been given extra days of service free of charge.
Whether that’ll be enough should the issue happen again is a different story entirely.
