A 2022 PlayStation Plus game just became free for everyone… and it seems like nobody noticed, considering this happened last month.
Thank you in advance to PlayStation Lifestyle's Zarmena Khan for the original source!
Roughly three years ago, Arcadegeddon was included as part of the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly free titles.

Don’t stress out if you didn’t manage to claim it back then however, as the title just went free to play (although it seems most PS Plus didn’t notice).
"Arcadegeddon is officially Free to Play on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC!" revealed the official Arcadegeddon Twitter account on March 18.
"Get out there and secure your place in arcade history!"
The devs describe Arcadegeddon as an “ever-evolving co-op multiplayer, roguelite shooter”, and it seems like the title was actually pretty well received when it launched back in 2021.

The publisher and developer behind Arcadegeddon, IllFonic, is probably most well known for their titles Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds, so it seems PvP titles are kind of their speciality.
As for why IllFonic has suddenly decided to make the game free to play… well, that probably has something to do with the dwindling playerbase.
Prior to the game going free to play back in March, Arcadegeddon was averaging somewhere around two to ten concurrent players a day on Steam.
Doesn’t seem like the F2P model did much for the game in terms of player count though, as that number increased by only around 200 following the announcement… until today, weirdly enough.

It seems that the player count has jumped up to around 660 as of today. Assumedly people are only just realising that the game is now free due to the chatter about it on Reddit, which means that number is likely to climb over the next week or so.
