The God of War franchise has had something of a revival in recent years thanks to the success of 2018’s God of War and following God of War Ragnarök.
However, the franchise began its life many years before with titles such as God of War, God of War II, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta releasing in the early 2000s.

Despite their popularity, remasters only ever happened for the PlayStation 3 and only God of War III made its way to the PlayStation 4.

However, it seems as though a remastered collection to celebrate God of War’s 20th anniversary may be on the cards.
According to a report by Need4Games, an insider known as Lunatic Ignus has claimed, via Discord, that multiple God of War remasters are in the works and they will focus on the Greek mythology era of the series.
Including Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, and Ascension, this will be the first time these titles have made their way to a modern console and will be handled by developer Nixxes.
Ignus goes on to claim that the announcement will be made in March 2025 to correspond with God of War’s 20th anniversary so it would make sense.

However, as this is an insider leak, it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt. Even though it would be pretty epic.
With Sony pushing remasters and remakes more than ever, much to people’s dismay, it would not be too far-fetched to see it add the original God of War entries to the mix.
It seems we have a few months left to wait to see how the anniversary will be celebrated.
For now, players are flocking to God of War Ragnarök after it was recently made accessible to PC players.

However, as standard, it seems as though not everybody is happy.
