Tomba! is swinging onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with a new port from Limited Run Games.
Announced during a recent live-stream, the classic PlayStation 1 platformer will make its new-gen debut on PlayStation4/5 sometime in the near-future, though no release date has been given as of yet.
Check out Limited Run Games’ Tomba! announcement trailer below!
If you’re unfamiliar, Tomba! is a platform-adventure game which was originally released in 1997 for the PlayStation 1. It follows the main character, Tomba, a feral child who’s on a quest to recover his grandfather's bracelet, which was stolen by an evil race of pigs, which seemed to be a common trope amongst 1990s video game villains.

It was released to overwhelmingly positive reviews, leading to a sequel called Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return, also for the PlayStation 1.
The re-release will be ported with the Carbon Engine, and will be faithful to its first appearance over a decade though, with one exception. The game will feature a brand new soundtrack created by Fujita Harumi, who composed the game’s original score.
Limited Run Games shared their excitement for the port, saying: "Our favorite pink-haired, high-jumping jungle boy is back! We're working with creator Tokuro Fujiwara to bring the beloved platformer Tomba to modern consoles via the Carbon Engine, with a new soundtrack by the legendary Fujita Harumi."
Tomba! isn’t the only game getting new life on modern platforms. Limited Run Games also announced a new port of Clocktower, Jurassic Park, and my personal favourite… Gex: Trilogy, featuring everyone’s wise-cracking gecko.
