With it being five years since it was released, fans have no doubt explored every nook and cranny of Red Dead Redemption 2’s world. Now, thanks to one modder, you can add a whole new area to explore.
The mod found on Nexus Mods titled ‘Heart Plains’ changes the Green Heartlands area into the dry Heat Plains after a dry spell has changed the look of the region entirely. What was once an area filled with lush green grass is now barren, filled with dry grass and weeds. The mod also makes changes to the Big Valley, turning it into a Redwood Expansion. This replaces all the dull brown tones into varying colours of rust which is perfect for the autumnal season. You will also see some Sequoia trees dotting the landscape.

Not only that but the mod offers an additional file that recolours some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s existing trees, turning them from their typical green into varying colours. This affects the English Oak, Maple, Birch and Poplar trees in the region with the modder planning on adding more in future updates.

One comment for this mod says, “This mod makes the game more Wild West,” with another calling it “an aesthetically pleasing autumn mod”. Another fan tried it out and gave kudos to the creator, stating, “The Heartlands area looks so damn good with the new colours, and Valentine looks straight out of Deadwood. Mod of the year for me.” High praise indeed.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 community is another one with a legion of dedicated creators behind it. Just recently, we have seen mods that allow you to run your own gun store as well as adding the undead to the game just in time for Halloween. For those not a fan of modding their game, you can still log back in and check out the hidden room recently discovered after five years.
