It’s almost April which means the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is almost upon us.
Due to be held on 2 April, the showcase should fill us in on the console’s specs, launch titles, price, and release date.
But just as a new era dawns, so too does the sun set on another.

You may recall that a while back, Nintendo revealed that it would be shutting down its Gold Points currency system.
Well, here’s your reminder you have just under one week left to collect as many points as possible.
If you’re unaware, Gold Points essentially equate to free store credit.
You’ll earn Gold Points for purchases made via the Nintendo eShop and you can then knock them off future purchases from that particular storefront.

You can take a look at the Nintendo Switch 2’s initial teaser below.
If you missed the original announcement, Nintendo Switch users will no longer be able to earn Gold Points from 9.30pm PDT on 24 March.
For those in the UK, this translates to 4.30am GMT on 25 March.

Points will no longer be earned via digital content purchases, digital content pre-orders, physical games purchases, Nintendo eShop card purchases, the downloading of digital codes, or via physical Nintendo store purchases.
Thankfully, whatever currency you do have will remain redeemable for 12 months so you don’t have to worry about rushing to spend your Gold Points.
But it may be worth trying to earn as many points as you can before the scheme shuts down with that in mind.
Is there a title you’ve been meaning to pick up? Do it.

Got a game code you’ve not redeemed yet? Get that code registered, my friend.
Maybe you’ve got a physical game you’re yet to try out? Stick the game card in to register it and earn your points.
You may as well rack up as much free store credit as you can before the scheme shuts down because, as I said, you’ve got 12 months to spend it.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Nintendo Switch 2 brings a new rewards scheme.
