Is no news, good news? Well, when it comes to the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy, it’s hard to say. Tongues are wagging over on Reddit as fans begin to worry that news about the upcoming release is thin on the ground, especially after having a Nintendo Direct with no updates.
One Redditor is showing concern because “I check about twice a month [to see] if the game is available for pre-order on the eShop, and somehow, two months out from launch, it still isn’t.”

Take a look at Hogwarts' four house common rooms below.
Perhaps the old adage is true and the game is busily getting optimised and polished for its Nintendo outing. After all, this is a huge open-world game filled with magic, plenty of NPCs and all those shiny details from the Wizarding World. Could it be that the game is in a great state and the developer just doesn’t have anything to show?
Remember, we’ve seen the game before. We know what it’s all about. However, a little trepidation is understood given that the game could run terribly and perhaps there are some nerves around showing it off.

The Redditor goes on to question whether anyone has seen any news on social media because, and we’ll admit, it’s odd that such a notable game isn’t being hyped up as we edge closer to release.
Speculation is rife, with replies varying from, “The game just won’t look good”, to “If mainline consoles couldn’t run it well, what makes you think the Switch will?” There’s even a little optimism in there with one remarking, “Maybe it will get pushed to next year on the new Switch 2 hardware?” We’re only hoping for that one as we’re eager to see this heavily rumoured Switch 2.
Whatever the reason for Hogwarts Legacy being a no-show, fans can take solace in the fact that while there hasn’t been any good news, there also hasn’t been any bad news. The game is still slated to arrive before Christmas, though the developers are apparently working on a sequel already.
