GTA 6 Xbox Series S performance roasted by fans

GTA 6 Xbox Series S performance roasted by fans

A console exclusive but at what cost?

With the news that Grand Theft Auto VI will be a console exclusive for the first few years of its lifespan, talk has turned to which console will run the massive game the best.

The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release next year after a decade-long wait.

Check out the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

However, in typical Rockstar Games fashion, the large-scale game will be heading to console first and if it follows in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V, it won’t arrive on PC until a few years later.

Although this is good news for console owners, it is apparently not good for those who game using the Xbox Series S as a recent report reveals some disappointing news.

According to an expert from Digital Foundry, Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to run at 720p or lower with dynamic resolution on the Xbox Series S.

As the less-powerful sister console to the Xbox Series X, it is perhaps no surprise that it will not manage a better resolution.

However, users are understandably disappointed with the news and took to r/GTA6 to share their frustrations.

“F**k Microsoft for releasing that console,” one comment read.

However, another user believes that Series S users are “lucky” that GTA VI will even run on that console at all.

Additionally, one Reddit user seemingly has all the answers as to the lower-end specs.

“Probably upscaled to 1080p, that's the quality upscaling setting for FSR, DLSS etc,” they explained.

Cyberpunk on performance mode renders at 900p-648p and upscales it to 1080p on the XSS.”

With GTA VI reportedly being the most expensive game ever made, we can expect the map of Vice City and surrounding areas to be one of the biggest in gaming.

So it is perhaps no surprise that it will take the most powerful pieces of hardware to run.

Well, let us wait and see.
