The rumoured Gears of War Remastered Collection, containing the first three games in the series, is allegedly in development even though updates have been far and far between.
Last May, we found out that this collection was in the works from XboxEra's Nick Baker who said that the games would get "the Master Chief Collection-type treatment" from The Coalition. Given that the developer has offered self-effacing statements like the fact that the team wouldn't be revealing what they are working on for a little while, and the necessity for a remaster for one of Xbox's greatest gaming legacies, Baker's scoop turned some heads.

Yet, there were no more updates and the possibility that Gears of War fans would be treated to upgraded versions of their favourite games faded from view. That's not to discount the recently revealed Gears of War: The Card Game from Steamforged Games, but it's been almost four years without a new main entry in the series.
No news is apparently good news. "I’m currently not allowed to give much more detail than 'it’s happening' at the moment," clarified Baker in a Tweet, adding that he's doing his best to get a better glimpse of what's going on at The Coalition. "But even as someone who isn’t a big Gears fan anymore, what this is should be really awesome. Add even better adjectives for Gears fans."

A remastered collection would be an ideal opportunity for long-standing fans to refresh their memories of the first three games as well as introduce curious onlookers to the COG commandos' fight. Of course, we've still not got any concrete confirmation from either The Coalition or Microsoft, but we'll hold out hope.
