There’s a lot to celebrate when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2, and a new version of a game you love should be one of them, however, it’s not always that simple.
After Hogwarts Legacy was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, fans began looking into the game, what to expect from it, and importantly, how well it runs on the hybrid console.
Hogwarts Legacy will have its own Switch 2 edition
Nintendo are shouting from the rooftops that the system is more powerful than we’d expect, but fans have come to expect that new games would run at 60fps, and it seems Hogwarts Legacy won’t meet that target.

It’s looking like the Harry Potter game will target 40fps on the new hardware, and fans are split on whether that’s okay, or not.
On Reddit, under discussion of the 40fps information, CarbVan notes, “720p 40fps in handheld is pretty good with that VRR screen.”
“40fps is gonna feel so nice in handheld mode,” echoes another Redditor.
Framerate is swiftly becoming the benchmark for new hardware, with players hoping for more frames over swish visuals.

Of course, lush graphics are always nice, but it’s buttery smooth gameplay that appeals to the majority nowadays, as it simply offers a more comfortable experience.
“Kind of weak, but I wouldn't buy a Switch 2 for multiplatform games anyway,” says SpyroManiac36.
“That wasn’t inherently obvious? It’s a handheld,” remarks OK__ULTRA.
It seems the community is leaning more towards this being a positive step, and seeing the potential of the hardware offering more ways to play AAA games.

Considering it’s primarily a handheld for so many players, 40fps sounds like a nice sweet spot.
“40fps is underrated. Feels alot better than 30,” notes another player.
Once many of us have our hands on the hardware, we’ll get to see it with our own eyes and make a judgement on how it feels, but going by previews, the system seems to be a winner.
