With Grand Theft Auto VI set to add two brand-new protagonists to the fray, it didn’t take long for people to come forward claiming it would be them playing the starring roles.
The start of December saw the very first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer hit (and almost break) the internet. Despite the rumours that the sequel in the long-running series would be introducing two new characters, it was only when this trailer was released that fans got to see them for the first time officially.

The protagonists in question will be Jason and Lucia who will reportedly take on a Bonnie and Clyde-esque role in the game. Although Rockstar is yet to reveal who the actors who will be stepping into these coveted roles are, it hasn’t stopped some people from taking the credit.

This news comes after one Twitter account claiming to be the ‘real’ GTA VI Lucia posted a video to their account on 17 December. The woman, Lucia Echeverría, can be seen walking into a store dressed in similar garb to Lucia’s whilst onlookers claim, “That’s her,” and ask for free copies of the upcoming game. The video is captioned, “Won’t say much. Can’t wait to say more soon,” and includes the GTA VI hashtags.
Although many originally believed this was Lucia’s actress due to the woman’s likeness, it soon became clear it was a hoax. This is due mainly to Rockstar having very strict NDAs when it comes to their actors revealing their identities prematurely and Echeverría was soon discovered to be Instagram model jaelanijade.
This is not the first time real-life people have come forward to take credit since the GTA VI trailer dropped. On 10 December, the “Florida Joker” demanded $1-2 billion dollars from Rockstar after claiming the company had stolen his likeness.
