There are growing fears that GTA VI could still cost $100 when it launches later this year, and those fears are totally justified.
For starters, the new U.S tariffs have been causing chaos across the world, and many are blaming them for some of the less-than-desirable prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its accessories.
Nintendo showed off its new home console via new Nintendo Direct, but were delayed in sharing the price of the system in the U.S
Whether that’s actually due to tariffs or not is unclear and unlikely but it’s annoyed a lot of people nonetheless, not to mention the games for the thing costing an arm and a leg compared to normal Nintendo Switch games.

Many have taken this as confirmation GTA VI will indeed cost $100 as feared, with the tariffs being the final nail in the coffin.
There is some hope though, as Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has spoken on the tariffs and their impact on the game industry.
In an interview with GamesIndustry Zelnick said: “Well, our industry association, the ESA, has been weighing in and in general, and I think most economists would agree, a world without tariffs is a better place … Now, tariffs do play a role when they're necessary and they could be necessary if, for example, a country is in the business of dumping on other economies.”
He apparently didn’t want to comment on whether the tariffs have been a factor in the GTA VI price point but it’s clear that he’s not fond of the tariffs himself and will likely know the backlash the company would face if it did blow up the price of the new game.

That said it is business at the end of the day, and it’s well-known that fans are willing to pay silly amounts of money to play the next Grand Theft Auto title, the series is just that prestigious right now.
