Up till now, it’s been difficult to gauge the reception to House Of The Dragon. Needless to say, Game of Thrones’ final season didn’t go down well with the vast majority of fans. I certainly understand the criticisms, but I also quite enjoyed it - and yes, the GAMINGbible team has let me know how strange I am for holding that opinion.
Anyway, many have wondered if HBO had alienated Game of Thrones fans but House Of The Dragon just dropped its first full length trailer and it looks like we’re all running back to this franchise with open arms.
Check out the brand new trailer for House Of The Dragon ahead of the series’ debut on 21 August.
House Of The Dragon is set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. The series focuses on the fabled ‘Dance of Dragons,’ which I’m sure will ring a few bells. Following the death of their father, siblings Aegon and Rhaenyra Targaryen engage in a civil war as they both vie for the Iron Throne. The trailer showcases plenty of dragon action, sword fights, and dagger-wielding backstabbers - so your typical Westerosian fare.

Fans flocked to Reddit to share their thoughts on the series, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. MicroFlamer wrote, “It’s incredible how much better this looks compared to basically every other fantasy show of the last couple of years,” and plenty of users agreed. SPorterBridges quite simply exclaimed, “Now this s**t looks expensive,” and Tecphile added that the “costume design is noticeably better than what the likes of Netflix and Amazon's offerings have provided.”
Fans seem to be equally hyped for the storyline. Aduong wrote, “This looks like everything I ever wanted from Dance of Dragons,” and anm01 echoed that sentiment, saying “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.” See you all on Twitter on 21 August to discuss theories?
