You’d be very hard-pressed to find any title which is a stronger game of the year contender than Elden Ring. Sorry to Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Horizon Forbidden West, but those countless 10/10 reviews don’t lie.
As we all know, FromSoftware’s latest is absolutely huge. The Lands Between are so vast, and packed with secrets to find and brutal bosses to batter - according to HowLongToBeat, it’ll take your average completionist around 130 hours to discover everything the game has to offer. Despite that, fans have still been begging for DLC expansions, and although nothing official has been said about that yet, the next best thing has just been announced.
Before we get into it, be sure to take a look at this hilarious Elden Ring mod, which replaces all the enemies and characters with other familiar faces.
As revealed on Twitter, the devs of Dark Souls III’s excellent Convergence Mod are now working on a similar overhaul for Elden Ring: “The stars have aligned, The Convergence is nigh,” they wrote. “The development has commenced.”
In case you weren’t familiar, the Convergence Mod for Dark Souls III offered a whole host of incredible additions, such as new (and improved) spells, more starting classes, weapons and armour, new bosses, and even hostile NPCs named after speedrunners, like Distortion2. Needless to say, assuming that similar things are brought into Elden Ring: The Convergence, there’s a lot to be excited for, and fans have been getting super hyped.

“I'm almost as [excited] for this as the actual release of the game,” tweeted @Shimmy123. “BALANCE IT, ADD STORM MIRACLES AND MORE GRAVITY MAGIC, MAKE US PROUD!” replied @MadAlienArt.
There’s currently no release window for The Convergence, and chances are, it’ll probably be a while away yet if the development has only just started. Of course, being a mod, you’ll only be able to access this for yourself if you’re a PC player - console users will have to hang on for official DLC releases. Historically, FromSoftware have usually released DLC for their Soulsborne titles within a year of their release, so hopefully we won’t be waiting too long to hear something about that, too.
