A free download for an upcoming game has struck a chord with fans on Steam, ahead of its 2025 release.
Cubic Odyssey is an open-world, sandbox voxel game from developer Atypical Games and publisher Gaijin Network Ltd. on Steam.
Exploration is the name of the game in Cubic Odyssey, and honestly, the description on Steam kind of makes it sound like a mix between No Man’s Sky and Minecraft.

No, seriously, listen to some of this and tell me it doesn’t sound like a speech from Sean Murray during No Man’s Sky’s pre-release: “Every star seen in the sky or in space is the light of a star system. Each star is orbited by planets filled with life, with shifting day-night cycles, bustling NPC cities, pirate outposts, and dangerous ruins waiting to be discovered.”
Will you be seeing A Minecraft Movie?
Well, you don’t have to take the description’s word for it anyway, because a demo for the game dropped a few weeks back that the fan base is extremely impressed with.

Over in a thread on the r/CubicOdysseyGame subreddit, fans shared their experiences getting to grips with the demo for Cubic Odyssey.
“I just played two to three hours of the demo as a first experience and I had a blast! I dabbled in some deep sub-surface mining, cleaned up the ruins to make it a homey modern base, and just unlocked the armoury before calling it since I needed to get ready for work,” commented user themonfather.
“I can see myself grinding this game and building multiple bases and ships and the lot. This could be a game changer for voxel games."
“I 100% agree with everything you said,” replied user TastyBacon007.

“I think the game is in a fantastic place right now and I really enjoy playing it...even if I can't use the spaceship to go to more planets and spaceships is my favorite part of most games lol.”
No word on an exact release date for this one, but the developers have promised that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S ports are planned, so keep an eye out.
