Do you want to play a demo of a game that has a low-poly visual style and a Skyrim aesthetic to boot? Of course, you do.
If you head on over to Steam, you can find such a game, and if you enjoy the demo, the full game only costs as much as a meal from McDonald’s.
Tale of Dark Lands has a free demo to try out on Steam now
What is this game? It’s called Tale of the Dark Lands, and it kind of mashes up a few inspirations to create a pretty adorable, though still adventurous, game that’s worthy of your attention.

This is essentially a traditional, medieval RPG, with your standard heroes who swing swords at gnarly creatures.
The developer, Satur Entertainment, pitches it as a playable fairy tale, with everything you would expect in a traditional good versus evil tale, building your hero from scratch and fighting off constant danger.
There’s a pinch of Skyrim in here, and a dash of The Witcher 3, too.
The former in it’s setting, the latter in the hero character shown in the trailer, and marketing footage.

Of course, it’s not easy to look past that low-poly visual design, which screams Minecraft at us - though there is no block-placing, that we can see. Boooooo.
There is a pretty robust crafting system, as well as a unique skill tree that will help players personalise their hero further.
Tale of the Dark Lands was released earlier this year, on 27 February, and the free demo lets you try out some of the story and plenty of combat.
As mentioned above, the full game is pretty cheap, too, so it could be a nice new adventure that won’t break the bank.

Steam users note that it’s pretty short, running at only a few hours, but mixes up a cosy setting with some tasty battles.
Definitely sounds worth trying the demo, at least.
