Bloodborne fans are, as per usual, wildly theorising about the prospect of new, official content for their favourite souls-like… but they might actually be on to something this time.
In case you missed it, FromSoftware just announced a brand new game: Elden Ring: Nightreign.
Fans were quick to realise that some Dark Souls content had found its way into the trailer for the upcoming game, as the Dark Souls III boss The Nameless King can be seen during Elden Ring: Nightreign’s announcement trailer.

Following a recent interview with Famitsu, Elden Ring: Nightreign’s director Junya Ishizaki explained that he “thought it would be interesting to have enemies from another world appear” so he decided to get “permission from Miyazaki and Tanimura (Yui Tanimura)” so that they could feature some of Dark Souls’ enemies in the new game.
Now, nothing in Ishizaki’s comment directly implies that any FromSoftware content outside of Dark Souls might make it into Elden Ring: Nightreign, but that hasn’t stopped the Bloodborne community from speculating.
Some of said speculation is pretty convincing though.
For instance, there’s this post on the r/bloodborne subreddit which pointed out that one of the weapons in Elden Ring: Nightreign’s trailer looks a lot like the Stake Driver weapon that’s in Bloodborne’s base game.

Then, less convincingly, there’s a whole bunch of posts (such as this one) from folks who seem to think they’ve spotted Lady Maria in the trailer.
Personally I don’t think that is actually her but, hey, I’d love to be proven wrong.
The real question is, considering that Bloodborne is a PlayStation exclusive and Elden Ring: Nightreign is not, are FromSoftware even allowed to put Bloodborne content in the game?
I’d wager no, but there’s always the chance that Sony might let them anyway.

It definitely wouldn't be possible without their permission however, so you better hope that Sony is feeling in an extra-giving mood this Christmas.
