Bloodborne fans are breathing a sigh of relief right now, following a recent interview with FromSoftware’s president Hidetaka Miyazaki.
During last week’s Nintendo Direct, FromSoftware revealed their new, Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title The Duskbloods.
Although the initial trailer was met with a positive reception, excitement for The Duskbloods immediately waned following the announcement that it would be a multiplayer-focused title.

FromSoftware fans were immediately concerned, as this means that the developer is now releasing two multiplayer-focused titles in a row (as The Duskbloods will follow their next title, Elden Ring Nightreign).
Miyazaki has put these fears to rest however, as he noted that single-player games will still be the developers' focus in a recent Creator’s Voice interview on Nintendo’s official site (per IGN).
"As a side note, please allow me to address one thing… As we previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn't mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward,” Miyazaki stated.
“The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced, and we still intend to actively develop single-player focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style."

Over on the r/fromsoftware subreddit, fans were mostly just thrilled to learn that this still means that Bloodborne 2 could still be coming down the line.
“Man, even the characters you control are called "Bloodsworn"...” commented user Mercurial_Synthesis.
“Happy to wait until the next single player game anyway, so I'm not too bothered by how this turned out, though I was pretty excited when it was first shown.”
“Let him cook. This could be the precursor for Bloodborne 2 or something even cooler,” replied user Fickle_Acanthaceae17.

“Let FS cash in on multiplayer games. They deserve the extra money and new customers. They've gave us treat after treat (Not you Night Reign). Nintendo fan boys deserves to play the awesomeness that is a From Soft game.”
Either way, this does probably mean any chance of a Bloodborne sequel is a good few years off at least.
Maybe we’ll finally get to hear something regarding a follow-up once The Duskbloods hits store shelves in 2026.
