Rejoice, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans. Larian Studios has announced that a new update is due to be released very shortly, and it’s an absolute whopper.
Taking to social media, Larian announced that the update would be available to download on PC, PlayStation, Xbox while Mac players would have to wait a tiny bit longer. It’s 21GB in total, so you may need to clear some room. Devs noted that on PC and SteamDeck, you’ll need around 150GB of free space but if that’s going to prove to be a struggle, they recommend uninstalling Baldur’s Gate 3 and redownloading the patched version.
Baldur’s Gate 3 won GOTY at the 2023 The Game Awards. Take a look at the game in action below.
As for what the patch includes, you’ll now be able to dismiss a recruited companion from your party while speaking to the companion you want to replace them with, which should save you from running around like a headless chicken. The Shield Bash and Rebuke of the Mighty have also been fixed, with devs confirming that your passives should now correctly trigger Saving Throws.

The update will also ensure that automatically triggered dialogue will now try to prioritise your avatar as the main speaker, so “party members should stop stealing the limelight”. What most fans will be looking forward to though is the improved smooches. Yes, the new update will include new kiss animations for all of your favourite characters and companions.
It also teases new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, and plenty of bug fixes. The full patch notes are not yet available, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for when this patch drops. Hopefully, it won’t take too long. Those romantic new kisses do time up nicely with Valentine’s Day … just saying.
