A much-beloved Elder Scrolls game has been delisted and rendered permanently unplayable today, and the community that supported it has spent the better part of the last 24 hours mourning its departure.
As announced back in November 2024, The Elder Scrolls: Legends would be departing this mortal plane as of January 30, 2025.
Bethesda stated in their announcement that the game would no longer be available for download once their press release went live, but that players could continue to play the title up until January 30 - at which point the servers would go dark.

And now, that fated day has finally arrived.
Posts on the r/elderscrollslegends subreddit are currently filled with people grieving its final hours, with the majority of said posts dedicated to those who were attempting to play for as long as possible up until the servers finally switched off for good as of 3pm yesterday.
When do you think a new Elder Scrolls VI trailer will surface?
In one such thread, simply titled “Farewell Old Friend”, players shared their thoughts on The Elder Scrolls: Legends final hours.

“Keep opening it via force of habit,” replied user whateverman010101, “Can’t bring myself to delete it. It’s gonna take time. I am literally so sad with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.”
“I spent so much money on this game,” commented user ArchAngelAries, “Never understood why they stopped making content and shut it down.”
“RIP. Wasn't sure what time, so I was hoping for one last lunchtime game,” replied user Rootbeerpanic.
Personally, I can’t say I ever played this one, but I currently have about 2,000 hours in Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel… and if that ever goes offline for good, I think I’d have a big old apple-sized lump in my throat too.

Here’s hoping that, somewhere down the line, The Elder Scrolls: Legends can be repurposed into something else for the community’s sake. Perhaps as a playable mini-game in The Elder Scrolls VI?
