Despite the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, the high bar of quality, the rip-roaring story, the intense action, and the attention to detail, fans are still frustrated over one thing.
A constant complaint from the Red Dead Redemption 2 community is the lack of a 60fps patch for the game, despite Rockstar Games constantly touching up and enhancing GTA V.
Red Dead Redemption 2 still doesn't run at 60fps on new consoles
The acclaimed game, noted as a masterpiece from Rockstar Games, is yet to have a framerate buff on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.

As one fan rants on Twitter, “It’s 2025 and Red Dead Redemption 2 is still stuck at 30FPS on consoles (PS5/XSX).”
They continue, “Somehow RDR1 has a 60FPS patch but not RDR2, genuinely will never understand why Rockstar utterly refuses to change 1 line of code to allow 60FPS when it’s been proven to run flawlessly. Gigantic L.”
There are, of course, ways to unlock the framerate on PC, using mods, but for console players, they’re stuck with 30fps.
This player isn’t alone in their want for buttery smooth visuals, as plenty of gamers joined in the discussion.

“Because if they patch it to 60FPS, the eventual remaster it inevitably gets someday loses a major selling point. I am CONVINCED that’s why.” notes one fan.
The other side of the argument doe exist, however, with another player chiming in with, “It isn't just change a line of code to make it run at 60.”
Whatever the reason, the developers are reluctant to push ahead with an update to the game, leaving many wanting.
“Ignoring one of if not the most respected game you've ever made is really something that I'll never get!!” notes one player, believing that Rockstar Games simple doesn’t care.

Perhaps they do, though, and they’re just laser focused on GTA VI, currently.
“It’s the reason I haven’t tried to go back and play it,” says another user. Let’s hope all their wishes come true, at some point.
