The PlayStation 5 console has been out in the world since 2020, and we're likely still a good few years off the PS6. That means we're in a rare sweet spot, marking the perfect time to invest in a PS5 - its price isn't quite as eye-watering as it was a few years ago, but the tech is still cutting-edge and will last for years to come.

If you were ready to take the plunge and wanted to save even more money on a brand new console, now's the perfect time - as the slim version of the PS5 Digital Edition Console is currently the special introductory price of £324.99, down from £389.99. Even better, this bundle throws in the Fortnite Cobalt Star pack to really sweeten the deal.

The console comes with the high-spec technology you'd expect from the latest PlayStation: an ultra-high speed SSD for near-instant load times, and 1TB of storage to have your favourite games ready to go whenever you are. This is the ultimate choice if you don't have much space for your gaming setup, as it does away with a disc drive and does everything digitally - resulting in a sleek and small device that can easily slot into your TV console. All you have to do is pay for and download games through the PlayStation store.

Fortnite fans will particularly like that it comes with the Fortnite Cobalt Star pack, as it includes a range of fun new additions - like a Cobalt Snowfoot Outfit and Indigao Inverter Pickaxe, all of which you can use within the online game.

But what do actual gamers think of the slim PS5 Digital Edition Console? It's racked up 4.6 stars out of 5 from nearly 500 Amazon reviews, with one happy gamer writing: "The graphics are stunning, with super smooth gameplay that truly enhances the gaming experience. The load times are practically non-existent, and the console’s performance is top-notch. The design is sleek, and the build quality feels solid and durable."

"Love how slim it is and I will definitely recommend if you are looking to get a slim one too," another said. A third chimed in: "Works perfectly and audibly quieter than the original PS5... Would recommend to anyone looking for a spectacular gaming experience."

However, one customer griped that the "games [are] very expensive", while another agreed: "The cost of games on the PS store are a rip off."

If you wanted to stick to a PS5 with the disc drive built in, you can spring for the PS5 Pro, which costs £69.99. Alternatively, a slim, disc-less version of Xbox - the Xbox Series S - is currently reduced to £199.99 at Argos.

But you'll have to hurry if you'd like to nab a deal on the slim, digital PS5 with the Fortnite pack included, as the deal ends on December 12.
