Long gone are the days when your shelves would be lined with physical discs of your favourite games. While it's nice to have to odd disc on display for nostalgia purposes, you can't argue with the ease of having a huge library of games ready and downloaded on your console.
The problem is, purchasing game after game can get pretty pricey - which is why a subscription is a smart money-saving move. And now, you can save up to 30% off PlayStation Plus in a special Black Friday deal.

You can grab a month of PlayStation Plus Premium for £3.48, down from its full price of £4.98 - and from then, it would be £13.49 every month. This nabs you hundreds of games in the Game Catalogue, as well as some extra perks like game trials, cloud streaming and access to the Classics Catalogue.
There are also savings to be made on a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription - costing £2.29 for the remaining 22 days (down from £3.06) and then £10.99 for every month after. This is a slightly more stripped-back subscription, but still gives you access to the Game Gatalogue and Ubisoft+ Classics.
Whether you want to try the latest games or indulge in a bit of online multiplayer fun, there's something for everyone within these subscriptions, with a huge amount of titles to choose from. Having some kind of membership is increasingly becoming a non-negotiable, particularly if you've opted for a slimmer console that comes without a disc drive.
There are plenty of benefits to signing up for a PlayStation subscription, with a review from PC Mag highlighting the "large, varied game libraries for higher membership tiers" and "some excellent monthly game picks". A write-up on Trusted Reviews agreed that there is "a superb selection of games", with a "classics catalogue [that] spans every era of Sony's consoles". And a review on Digital Trends said PlayStation Plus Premium in particular was "living up to its potential as the best option for longtime PlayStation fans".

However, some reviewers have shared some more critical notes - like one from Cnet which noted the "poor discoverability" of the subscription service. Someone on The Gamer also critiqued the fact they thought PlayStation "doesn’t add new games frequently enough".
Xbox has a similar service for its consoles, called Game Pass, with the Core subscription costing £6.99. You could also opt for Nintendo Switch Online - which offers a seven-day free trial, with the basic 12 month membership costing £17.99.
But for PlayStation fans, it's the PS Plus membership you'll want to be looking at - and you can get started on a cut-price membership today thanks to Sony's Black Friday deals.
