After nearly two years of waiting, Rockstar Games finally gave us an update on GTA VI with its trailer approaching in the coming weeks.
Following a series of unfortunate gameplay leaks that were clearly taken from an early build of the game, Rockstar Games announced that it was working on the development of GTA VI in February 2022. Up until now, the developer had gone radio silent providing no further updates.

Earlier this week, reputable video games journalist Jason Schreier leaked that Rockstar Games was to make an announcement in early December most likely to reveal a trailer. Seemingly this forced the developer's hand because just hours after that report, Rockstar Games officially announced that GTA VI news was finally on the way.
Following the recent announcement from Rockstar Games, news of the upcoming GTA VI trailer blew up the internet at an alarmingly fast rate, which is impressive when you think that the trailer is still weeks away (unless it’s leaked ahead of time, of course).
In relation to yesterday’s goliath news, the GTA VI trailer announcement is already breaking records. Previously, Rockstar Games' tweet from September 2022 addressing the gameplay leaks reached over one million likes in 20 hours making it the most-liked tweet of all time. The tweet from February 2022 announcing that GTA VI is in development reached over 563,000 likes, putting it in second place as the most-liked tweet of all time. Then the tweet from this week currently sits at 493,000 likes (and counting). This means that the top three most-liked tweets ever are all GTA VI-related.
At this time, we do not have a release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, but hopefully, all will be revealed next month. It is expected that GTA VI will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
