Ah, Grand Theft Auto VI, is a game forever in the daily news, but is also a game that we know very little about. Well, at least officially anyway.
Fans and video game journalists live on a daily knife edge expecting Rockstar Games to drop a GTA VI release date and trailer at a moment's notice. Yet, as each day comes, Rockstar Games drops no news. Unless you count updates for GTA Online and Red Dead Online.

Following a series of unfortunate gameplay leaks that looked to be from a very early build of the game, in February 2022, Rockstar Games officially announced that GTA VI was in development. Many fans believe that Rockstar Games announced this news as an attempt to damage control those previous leaks.

However, since that time, the developer has provided no further updates on the highly anticipated title. This is a reason why we’ve all had to rely on an endless stream of rumours, and today is no exception.
The latest rumour claims before we even get a GTA VI reveal, Rockstar Games will instead release Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, but this time for mobile devices. Initially, this remastered trilogy was released for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch in 2021. During that time, it was quite common knowledge that the collection would also be ported to Android and iOS devices. Yet, much like GTA VI, we’ve had no recent update on the mobile ports.
“The next big announcement from Rockstar Games is going to be the GTA The Trilogy Mobile: Definitive Edition, not GTA VI. What’s more, GTA VI was never mentioned in an early interview for Take-Two investors,” claimed Redditor Training_Island_3966 kicking off the discussion on the thread. This news as you can imagine, has not gone down well with some fans.
“GTA The Trilogy Mobile: Definitive Edition, however, was meant to be revealed in 2023 and scheduled for a 2024-2026 release. Note that this is just what the documents say, maybe it will be released earlier than this, but we will see. GTA VI however has NO set reveal date. Rockstar Games knows what they're doing. Later this year, or 2024. This all came from a study on Take-Two investor documents.”

The Redditor continued: “Potentially looks like December for a trailer; supposedly an ad company that has done ads in the NBA and NFL have said they would let Rockstar Games in on ads around the 19th, 24th and 25th of December. Not sure if these ads would be in the NBA or NFL but still.” They also went on to say that the source of this alleged information has correctly predicted Disney ad runtimes during the Super Bowl in 2020. It is also claimed that this source works in the ad sales department for Fox Sports. Make of that what you will.
Of course, no matter how credible this source of information claims to be, we should always take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, it’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will finally be revealed for mobile devices in the coming weeks or months.
GTA VI is expected to be released sometime during 2024 to 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
