When it rains, it pours. And Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 looks like a cat that fell in the bath.
Obviously, we aren't usually taking what Dr Disrespect says to heart, but this time, he was on the money. “I know there's a lot of hardcore Call of Duty guys, me including [sic], but let's all be realistic about it – this game is the worst Call of Duty ever,” he lambasted the game on one of his streams, criticising Infinity Ward's support and the technical issues that run rampant. This sentiment is echoed among the average fan too, a feeling of disappointment that this hyped up successor to an already successful game, and a swathe of players decided to uninstall the game not long following its launch. So how are they spending their time now? In Advanced Warfare. The game from 2014.
At least a few are having fun in Warzone 2.0. Check out this hilarious game where one player pretended to be an Uber driver for their fellow combatants:
Jake Lucky, a YouTuber and esports reporter, used an example of a player's mind-melting movement in Advanced Warfare to assert that those bored with Warzone 2.0 have hopped over to the older game. In fact, a scroll through Twitter shows a fair few videos of people's excellent use of the jet packs and other movement mechanics in the game, as well as a couple of comments deriding Warzone 2.0.
Additionally, there have been calls for an Advanced Warfare 2 now that we're approaching the game's 10th anniversary. Leaks suggest that work on 2024's Black Ops game is well underway and there are rumours that there'll be a premium version of Modern Warfare II with a new campaign and multiplayer maps. I'm sure Advanced Warfare 2 will be somewhere on the vision board though.
