Valheim meets The Witcher in new open-world RPG

With some V Rising influences thrown in too

A brand new game has just hit Steam that looks like a mix between Valheim and The Witcher 3, with a little bit of V Rising thrown in for extra measure.

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is an upcoming open world adventure game from developer Mehuman Games and publisher Toplitz Productions that is set to enter early access on Steam later this year.

Although Vampires: Bloodlord Rising has all the trappings of your standard open world crafting game, it does have one thing that sets it apart from a lot of similar games on the market - a story.

You play as Dragos, a recently turned vampire who has to choose between "the urge to satisfy your hunger for blood and your responsibility towards the people you swore to protect in the fictitious Balkan area of Sangavia."

Now the Valheim influences are pretty straightforward, as you’re given free rein (hah) to “plan, build and customize a beautiful medieval or gothic inspired multi-level castles with imposing watchtowers.” Basically in that respect, it’s V Rising, but third person.

The Witcher 3 influences are a little more subtle however. It’s an RPG with a bunch of choices in a gothic setting - that part is pretty obvious. But the flowy, magic based combat system is where subtler parts of the Witcher inspirations shine through.

No exact release date for this one yet, for both the full release and the early access release, but the developers do promise that it’s set to drop sometime in 2025.

Also from what I can tell from the official website for the game, this seems to be a PC-exclusive release for the time being.

However, whenever it does drop, you’ll be able to play Vampires: Bloodlord Rising in online co-op. So regardless of how the end product turns out, at least it’ll be fun to build a big dumb castle with your mates.
