The Steam Next Fest has thrown out a lot of great demos for upcoming games - so many it’s hard to keep up.
One such demo, that is absolutely channelling The Legend of Zelda, will be vanishing soon and deserves your time before it disappears.
The Knightling has major Zelda vibes going on
Giving off major Breath of the Wild vibes, The Knightling is a 3D action-adventure, where players take control of a Knightling on the search for their master, Sir Lionstone.

The knight has gone missing on a quest, and it’s up to you to search all of Clessia to track them down.
The Steam page reads, “Left with just Sir Lionstone’s shield, which contains a mysterious element called Callyrium, it is up to the Knightling to harness its power and become the next legendary hero.”
In the trailer, and gifs, it’s clear that in the world and enemy design, there’s a Nintendo feel to it all, but there’s plenty of originality here, too.
The adorable cartoon aesthetics give everything a lush fairy tale feel, and it all feels so playful.

I was already intrigued by the visual design, then I saw the way the character utilises the shield as a weapon, glider, and even uses it as a sled, skidding down hillsides to traverse the land faster.
With a neat combination of melee and magic-slinging, the combat looks to be engaging and fluid.
Before today, I’d never heard of The Knightling, but it quickly was added to my Steam wishlist, and I’ve got the demo downloading now.
Whether it turns out to be as expansive as Breath of the Wild or not, this is one to keep an eye on if you’re a fan of the open-world adventures of Link.

Unfortunately, there’s no release date scheduled, however production seems to be quite advanced given some of the videos, so hopefully, we’ll see it this year.
