Star Wars fans have received a bounty of galactic stories over the years, many of them being great, some missing the mark like a Stormtrooper shooting a womp rat.
What most of them have in common is a darkness and a serious tone that works well, but can often feel oppressive in a galaxy so large. Where are the humour and whimsy?

One film aiming to fall on the light side is Donald Glover’s Lando project. The actor and director spoke to the Wall Street Journal recently and the topic of the film came up.

Glover was asked what he wanted to accomplish with the prequel film in which he plays Lando Calrissian, previously played by Billy Dee Williams.
Glover said, “I just want it to be fun. As a Star Wars fan myself, I think it's important that there just needs to be more fun being had, it's very hard to have fun right now.”
Lando has always seemed a more carefree part of the Star Wars cast with bags of roguish charm, one-liners, and charisma. You’d think that, while he’s been in some scrapes, he’s also had a lot of fun.
Continuing on, the actor said, “[But] part of the human experience, I believe, is we have a responsibility to have enjoyment. And I just feel like we're lacking in that department.”

He’s not wrong. While Skeleton Crew is hoping to bring a more light-hearted feel to the adventures, so much of Star Wars is built on evil things happening.
Ending his comments, Glover finished with, “Everything that has to do with the Skywalkers is so serious. Lando, I think the best part about him, is he's a scoundrel. He's probably like, 'Man, this war is wack, I need money,' which I feel everyone can relate to, so I just want it to be fun.
There is currently no date or shooting schedule set for Lando.
