It’s been an interesting year or so for the Star Wars franchise.
Personally, I don’t think its TV output has ever been stronger, outside of the launch of Andor’s first season anyway.
The Acolyte was a breath of fresh air, with the wonderful Skeleton Crew then proving to be even greater of a triumph.

I was so delighted to see Star Wars drop fan-service drivel in favour of new and original storytelling and yet, many don’t share that opinion.
Both shows struggled to garner viewers, with Skeleton Crew even failing to land in the top 10 streaming chart.
The Acolyte has already been cancelled and I fear Skeleton Crew may follow in its footsteps, although I’m desperately crossing my fingers for a renewal announcement at Star Wars Celebration.
Instead, I think it’s far more likely that any announced projects will focus on reliable, well known characters.

One such character fans would like to see more of is Luke Skywalker, albeit a younger version.
But instead of the de-aged version we saw in The Mandalorian, many think it’s time to commit to casting a younger actor.
ICYMI: Andor returns for its second and final season next month.
“If they want to do younger versions of the characters and tell those stories then why not [recast],” wrote one Reddit user.

“Yeah, because this digital de-aging and face/voice-swapping sucks,” added throwtheclownaway20.
“Recast and stop depriving us of these characters,” commented NikassoUA.
User ge23ev echoed my personal view: “Or maybe leave those characters and stories behind and make new stories?”
I adore Luke as much as anyone else, but I do feel like the key points of his story have been covered but hey, I’m open to being surprised with a new twist in the tale.

I’d much rather see The Acolyte renewed though. You can’t just introduce Darth Plagueis like that and then cancel the dang thing.
Yes, I’m still salty.
Of course, when Star Wars Celebration does take place next month, we’ll be bringing you the latest headlines.
