Throughout Star Wars history, fans have had different opinions on how exactly Anakin came to be.
However, 2024’s The Acolyte offered another potential explanation to his mystical birth but despite some fans believing this, die-hard Star Wars fans are not backing this new theory.
Check out the official trailer for The Acolyte below!
Airing on Disney+ last summer, The Acolyte takes place first chronologically in the entirety of the Star Wars franchise and gives us some answers about the Dark Side of the Force.

We learn that its main characters, twins Osha and Mae, were created by manipulation of the Force used by their witch coven family and as well as being identical, they really are two sides of the same coin.
As a result, some fans started to question if Anakin Skywalker was also created in the same way as his parentage has been the subject of discussion for decades.
We know that Anakin was created by the Force but we do not know too many details about how this came to be but despite this, fans over on r/StarWarsCantina do not believe that his birth mirrored that of Osha and Mae’s in The Acolyte.
The discussion kicked off when one user posted, “I keep seeing people on Reddit talking about how Anakin was just the product of the witches from The Acolyte episode 3.

I don't know if I have misunderstood the arguments/memes.
However, I didn't get the impression that they created Anakin. They only created Mae and Osha. Anakin could still be a son of the Force, right? The Acolyte doesn't seem to contradict that.”
It was not long before the comments came flooding in with the majority of users agreeing that Anakin’s origins are something different entirely.
“Correct, and this is something that somehow a lot of people don't understand,” user arm1niu5 commented.

“Anakin was created by the will of the Force, while Mae and Osha were created by manipulation of the Force by the witches. It's not the same process.”
MarcJarston23 agreed, adding: “We currently have no reason to believe that these events are directly related, full stop.
I think we're meant to see a similarity, but the way they're described is very different. Anakin's birth is presented as a phenomenon, born of The Force itself.
The witches created Mae and Osha by directly manipulating The Force somehow.”

With others believing that Plagueis may have learned the technique from the Witches, this does seem likely but we may never know as The Acolyte was cancelled after its first season.
