Star Wars fans are uncertain of their feelings about Darth Plagueis’ return in light of a recent announcement.
When are Star Wars fans ever in agreement, right?
It’s fair to say that the fandom, being as vast as it is, hardly ever agrees on big reveals.

Still, this disagreement is not solely their fault.
After waiting for news of a second series of The Acolyte, it arrived, though not in the way we’d hoped.
Despite “breaking streaming records”, the Disney Plus show has been cancelled after one season.
We look to Star Wars Outlaws to lead us out of this dark time for Star Wars fans
Some may have disliked the story being told, but for the majority of fans, this was a welcome change of pace to the normal Star Wars narrative.

Not quite as explosively different as Andor, but The Acolyte showed a side of the Jedi Order we rarely get to see.
What is more, it brought back a Sith lord long thought dead.
Only now, poor Plagueis will remain stuck on that rocky island, never able to venture out of his cave.
“So I guess this is going nowhere now,” posted Redditor Ur-boiiiii upon learning of The Acolyte’s fate.

Although jokes are aplenty in this thread – suggesting Plagueis wants to “stay inside" to “play with his loth cats” – there are others who are truly gutted by this cancellation.
“I'm not surprised they cancelled the show but man I am so p*ssed they chose the most interesting plotline to be the next season tease,” said Secure_Pear_4530.
They added, “The Sith stuff was very interesting, Qimir was cool.”
Much about this series was “cool”, even if not everyone is ready to admit that.

Regardless of where you stand on its enjoyment factor, the show promised us a tense and interesting storyline that’ll now never be explored.
At least, not in the same way The Acolyte would have.
Our only hope now is that Plagueis’ return doesn’t get left behind and forgotten.
“Star Wars has a history of picking things up in different projects and ways. We may see more in a comic, book, animated series, or even another live-action show set in the high republic,” suggested StitchScout.

It’d be a small consolation prize, but one we’d take to learn more of this intriguing lore The Acolyte began to tell.
