Sony has finally revealed a first look at Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse along with a release date announcement.
The first two Spider-Verse films are often cited as two of the best comic book movies of all time. They blend solid writing with eye-catching animation to create a truly unique superhero story.
With two films already under its belt (sitting at 97% and 95% on RottenTomatoes respectively), all eyes are on the third film to see if Sony can deliver a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

The last Spider-Man film was Across the Spider-Verse back in 2023.
Now, Sony Pictures has revealed a first look at the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse, and has also set a new release date.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will release in cinemas on 4 June, 2027. The announcement came at its CinemaCon presentation on Monday.

The company also released some images from the film, which can be seen below. The images don’t spoil too much, but they tease a reunion for Miles and Gwen, as well as a fight with Prowler.
Some footage was also shown at CinemaCon.
The teaser shows Miles fighting his evil other self, and then he walks into a dark tunnel with others following him. Then the teaser cuts to the 4 June 2027 release date.

Beyond the Spider-Verse was first announced back in 2021, when producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller revealed that Across the Spider-Verse was going to be split into two films.
It was then set for a March 2024 release date, a mere nine months after Across the Spider-Verse hit cinemas. It was then delayed after the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
Considering the previous film ended on a cliffhanger, fans have been waiting to see how the story will be resolved.
I suppose a four-year wait isn’t as bad as the five-year gap between the first two films, but still.
